THE JOURNEY TO FINDING MY VOICE

STARTING THE JOURNEY

Finding your voice as a writer is like setting out on a long, winding road without a map. It’s not just about perfecting your craft or figuring out your style—it’s about discovering who you are and understanding what you want to share with the world.

When I first started writing, I had no idea where this path would take me. I had so many questions swirling in my mind. “Does my voice matter?” “Will people understand what I’m trying to say?” These doubts were like heavy clouds, but instead of stopping me, they pushed me forward. Every time I wrote something—no matter how small—I took one more step toward uncovering the voice that had been there all along.

THE STRUGGLE TO BE TRUE TO MYSELF

In the beginning, I tried to copy the writers I admired. Their words felt magical, their ideas profound. I thought, “If I can write like them, I’ll be a real writer.” But instead of feeling inspired, my writing felt empty. It was like I was wearing someone else’s clothes—they didn’t fit.

The turning point came when I decided to stop worrying about what others might think. I let go of trying to sound perfect and started focusing on what I truly wanted to say. Silencing my inner critic wasn’t easy. There were days when I doubted myself. But every time I wrote something honest, it felt like a small win. Slowly, I began to realize that writing isn’t about being perfect—it’s about being real.

LEARNING FROM LIFE’S LESSONS

I’ve learned that our voices aren’t fixed. They grow as we do. The ups and downs of life—its joys and sorrows—shape how we see the world, and in turn, shape how we write.

For me, facing illness was a pivotal moment. It taught me how important it is to be vulnerable. Sharing the messy, imperfect parts of my story helped me connect with others in ways I never expected. Similarly, going through a divorce was one of the hardest chapters of my life. It taught me resilience and reminded me that even when things fall apart, there’s a chance to rebuild—not just our lives, but our understanding of ourselves.

These experiences didn’t just give me stories to tell. They gave me a deeper voice—one rooted in truth, growth, and a newfound perspective.

SHARING MY VOICE WITH OTHERS

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been sharing my stories with others. Through my books, speeches, and even casual chats, I’ve been able to connect with people who see bits of their own lives in my words.

Every time someone tells me that my story helped them, it reminds me why I write. It’s not about fame or numbers—it’s about creating something that resonates. Knowing my words have made someone feel seen or understood makes all the hard work worth it.

LOOKING AHEAD

As I continue on this journey, I know my voice will keep evolving. Life has a way of surprising us, and every new experience—whether it’s a challenge or a joy—will shape the way I write.

Finding your voice isn’t something you do once and forget about. It’s a lifelong process. Each story, each lesson, brings you closer to the core of who you are.

TO EVERYONE SEARCHING FOR THEIR VOICE

If you’re still trying to find your voice, don’t give up. Keep writing, keep exploring, and keep trusting the process. Your voice is there, waiting for you. And when you finally hear it, you’ll realize that every step of the journey was worth it.
